Total Thyroid Review 3.67/5 (9)

If you’re a paranoid, webmd junkie like me, then you’ve diagnosed yourself with diseases ranging from Lupus, to Lyme Disease, to Hypothyroidism.  That’s because symptoms can range so broadly, and overlap with other diseases to the point that you need a medical degree to be able to get to the bottom of it.  If you’ve self-diagnosed yourself with a thyroid issue, then you’ve probably already started research into products like Total Thyroid.  They’re supplements that claim to benefit both hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism.  But that’s where things get tricky.  A lot of treatments depend on which one you have, and/or what’s causing it.  For some, it’s a nutritional deficiency, and that’s what these supplement makers bank on.

But we’re getting off task here, we’re here to talk about Total Thyroid pills, not the nature of thyroid disease.  In our Total Thyroid Review, we’ll be talking about whether or not you should be using Total Thyroid.  We’ll also be spending a lot of time talking about ingredients and how they stack up against the claims that Total Thyroid is making in their marketing material.  We’ll also dive in on the prices for Total Thyroid, before talking about the ways you can buy, if you choose to.  If you choose to ignore our hard work and want to see Total Thyroid in person, you can click the button below to get started.

Total Thyroid Pills: What are they?

Total Thyroid pills are billed as an “Advanced Thyroid Support” dietary supplement.  They come via the company True Source Nutrition. In doing some preliminary research on the company, we weren’t able to find a site for them, or any other products made by the company.  As to the pills themselves, the marketing is expansive in their claims for what the product can do.  Let’s take a look at the claims from the company, then talk about the ingredients that supposedly drive them.

Total Thyroid Benefits

Keep in mind, these are the advertised benefits from the company, and not something we completely agree with, or disagree with.  We’re going to try and point to studies when applicable, as well.

  1. Conscruct Thyroid Hormones – Total Thyroid claims to help construct thyroid hormones, which are released into your bloodstream.
  2. Absorb Thyroid Hormones – Total Thyroid claims to help your body absorb those hormones.
  3. Receive Thyroid Benefits – Total Thyroid claims that the supplement helps you receive the benefits of the first two steps.

The company also implies that by using this set of steps, it’s able to help control metabolism, calorie burning, mental energy, mood swings, depression, weight gain, and hormonal issues.

Total Thyroid Ingredients

In looking at these claims, we were skeptical.  That skepticism got a little higher when we saw that they weren’t providing a full ingredient label for us to look at.  While they didn’t give a product label, the studies they link to, and some of the marketing material showed that they were using ingredients in line with other Thyroid supplements on the market.  The biggest one we saw that stood out was Sea Kelp, or as they said “Iodine-rich Dead Sea Kelp”.  Let’s take a closer look.

  • Sea Kelp – For those of you who don’t know, Sea Kelp, or Sea Weed, is a common nutritional supplement ingredient.  While high in natural vitamins like A, C, D, E, B1, B2, it’s also high in minerals.  Those include ones like zinc, magnesium, potassium, copper, and most importantly here, iodine.  Iodine is a key component in thyroid function, with optimal levels being critical to healthy function.  That said, most people don’t have a problem getting enough iodine.
  • Iodine – Iodine is found naturally in a lot of foods, including ones commonly found in the modern American diet.  If you eat plenty of meat, dairy, and seafood, you’re probably not deficient in iodine.  That’s not to mention iodized table salt, which is ubiquitous in the US.  While deficiency can cause issues, so can oversaturation. In fact, oversaturation of iodine can make things worse for people suffering from hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Other Ingredients in Total Thyroid Pills

Aside from the Kelp, and the implied iodine content of said kelp, there’s not much to go on in terms of ingredient information for Total Thyroid.  They claim that it has another plant ingredient, as well as a list of vitamins, minerals, and other mysterious thyroid-helping ingredients that round out the mix.  As to what those ingredients are, we can only speculate.  But based on the philosophy of the product, and some of the info we’re seeing, we can make some educated guesses as to what they’re using.

Selenium – Selenium is used in many supplements because it plays an integral role in thyroid health.  There is evidence out there that overusing selenium can have its own set of issues, so keep that in mind.

What to make of the ingredient list?

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes with this ingredient list, so talking about it as if we know what’s in it would be misleading.  Our best advice is to order it, get it in your hands, and take it to the doctor to look over the ingredients.  If you both agree that it’s in your best interest, then go for it.  If you don’t, then take advantage of their return policy for a refund.

How To Order Total Thyroid

There isn’t a physical shop in the US that carries TotalThyroid.  On top of that, there is only one place we can find online that actually carries the Total Thyroid pills we’re talking about today.  We’ve provided a link to Total Thyroid as a convenience for you, but also note that should you buy it, we’re getting a commission . We’ve tried our best to be fair and balanced in how we reviewed Total Thyroid today, but if you feel we were too positive (or too negative) reach out to us.  We’re happy to note your concerns and act on them if need be.  Thanks for reading our review, and happy supplement hunting!  If you want to check out some other great content, head back to the home page by clicking here.
