Ideally, we want our skin texture to be silky smooth and soft. In this day and age, how can you maintain a healthy, attractive skin texture? Well, there are several methods, and once you get into the swing of things they’re all pretty simple.
Ways to Improve Skin Texture
There are a lot of ways to get bad skin texture, but when you’re looking for a way to improve it, there are only a few ways to do it. Here are a few ways that we’ve had direct experience with.
Is Your Anti-Aging Cream Making Things Worse?
First off, if you’re experiencing skin issues and you’re using an anti-aging cream or serum, stop using that product immediately. You could be reacting negatively to the ingredients, or your skin might not be able to handle that particular blend. If you want to find a skin care product that is right for you, then it’s wise to consult your skincare professional. Once you do have the perfect product, however, it’s important to know that less is more. Don’t slather it on all the time, because if you use anti-aging products too often, then your skin can actually become more irritated, red, and flaky. Talk with your skincare professional to find a product that is right for you, and to set up a proper schedule for when you should be using it.
This next part might sound counter-intuitive, but if you want to maintain a smooth, silky skin texture then you need to wash your skin less. That doesn’t mean you have to stop showering, it simply means you don’t have to be over-obsessive with it. Instead of washing your skin three or four times a day, try taking the one shower (and of course, washing your hands when it’s needed). Overwashing can cause excessive dryness and irritation, because it strips away the natural oils that are used for keeping your skin moisturized. Like your usage of skin care products, it’s wise to set up a schedule for when you wash your skin. Being aware of how many times you’re doing it will help you preserve your skin’s texture!
Keep Acne in Check
When it comes to skin texture quality, nothing can be more disruptive than acne. Not only does it look unattractive, but it’s quite difficult to get rid of. Now, it can be tempting to just grab ahold of those zits and pop away, but hold on. Before you wage war against acne, talk to your dermatologist or skin care professional about a product that can help. If you pop acne with your fingers, then you run the risk of introducing dirt and germs to the open area. This can make the problem even worse, so if you do decide to pop them yourself, be sure to thoroughly wash your skin afterward (but also make sure the washing coincides with that schedule we talked about!)
Watch Your Diet
And of course, with any beauty regime, it’s important that you’re eating healthy foods. If your diet consists of unhealthy, processed foods, then your skin quality is going to be on a one way decline. Various skin care experts recommend integrating foods that are rich in protein, such as salmon and soy. It’s also great to have things that contain Omega-3 fatty acids, like almonds, walnuts, and, again, salmon. Healthy vegetables such as carrots and berries also contain various vitamins that promote rapid skin repair. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and your skin will thank you for it!
